Summary

Bringing together community groups and residents for some open workshops on the Greater Cambridge City Deal

In response to requests from a number of community groups and resident associations in and around Cambridge, Be The Change Cambridge is looking to host an event that brings everyone together to learn more about the Greater Cambridge City Deal – whose website is at http://www.gccitydeal.co.uk/

If you’ve got a spare half-an-hour, have a watch/listen to this talk by Cllr Tim Bick, who chairs the City Deal Assembly - which covers the basics.

We’re seeking interest from people who would like to come along and take part. The date isn’t set in stone, but we’re looking at a Saturday in June – at the moment Sat 11 June 2016.Pam Wesson of Mill Road is kindly looking into community venues for us, but if you have ideas, please let us know.

We’re looking at a half-day event – around 10am-2pm.

The masterclass will feature open space sessions as well as a number of expert presentations from individuals and groups that have been campaigning on a number of issues that have arisen with the City Deal. We have also been in touch with the City Deal authorities and will be inviting them to take part – not least so that you can see some of the presentations that corporate audiences have seen, and can familiarise yourselves with the scrutiny and governance structures. For example, how many people know about the City Deal?

…and could the authorities improve how they publicise it?

It’ll also be a chance to hear what activities community forums have been doing in response. For example
